Cape Town - Former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Charles Motlohi believes winger Themba Zwane has grown over the years and is now ready to compete for a starting berth in the team.

The 26-year-old has played well whenever he is given a run in the starting line-up, making over 20 appearances in all competitions for the Brazilians this season and scoring on three occasions.

"I think the boy is making good progress, though he is yet to be a regular in that Sundowns team," Motlohi told Goal website.

"He showed some good signs whenever he is given a chance and I think it is just a matter of time before he can become even a better player.

"Maybe he will be as good as any of Zungu or Teko Modise, though he needs to work very hard to reach the level of those two.

"There are quality players there at Sundowns and I think they are helping him to grow."

Sundowns manager Pitso Mosimane has concerns over the fatigue of his players ahead of their April busy schedule, but Motlohi believes the squad has more then enough quality to deal with it.

"There is so much quality at the club and I do not think there will be a need for Pitso to go into the market," he added.

"Pitso Mosimane should just trust fringe players and give them time because I think they are also good enough to make the grade at Sundowns," he concluded.
