Cape Town - Orlando Pirates midfielder Gift Motupa insists the South African Under-23 side learned a lot from their trip to Brazil, even though they ended up on the losing side.

Amaglug-glug traveled to Maceio for a friendly match against the Brazilian Under-23 team on Sunday, as preparation for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janiero later this year, after gaining qualification for the tournament alongside Algeria and Nigeria.

Motupa played the entire 90 minutes of the encounter and admitted it was not an easy task as they were facing good quality players, but believes Owen Da Gama's men gained some invaluable experience from the trip and would be able to use it to their advantage at the Olympics.

"The match was a highly charged affair," Motupa told Orlando Pirates website.

"Brazil is a quality side and they have a lot of good players but personally I think we gave a good account of ourselves.

"We lost the match but I think we gained a lot of valuable experience ahead of our trip back to Brazil for the Olympics," concluded the Buccaneers midfielder.
