AmaZulu midfielder Butholezwe Ncube has urged his team-mates to keep working hard as they struggle to stay in the Absa Premiership.

Usuthu currently sit at the bottom of the league standings, with only 20 points collected from 23 fixtures, level on points with Black Leopards and Baroka, who have superior goal differences.

With the competition at the bottom end of the table so strong, AmaZulu have a real chance to lift themselves out of the danger zone and Ncube is determined to do whatever it takes to avoid the drop.

"I think we've been playing good football; we have just been unlucky in converting the opportunities we get into goals," he said, as quoted by the official AmaZulu website.

"We all need to have that goal-scoring mentality, from the defenders to the strikers as well, that way, we can gain positive momentum.

"We need to keep working hard as a team and keep the fighting spirit alive, everything else will then fall into place, we have the responsibility of keeping the team in the Absa Premiership and we will do what is needed to survive."

The Durban outfit will travel to Soweto for their next league game against league leaders Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday.

Kick-off is at 20:15.
