Cape Town - New Polokwane City coach Luc Eymael has revealed that one of his main objectives in the upcoming season is to tighten up the defence.

Eymael was appointed last month to stabilize the team after a 13th-place finish last season, which saw Rise and Shine concede a whopping 44 goals.

Midway through last season, City fired coach Kosta Papic and replaced him with Julio Leal.

Eymael is pleased with his team's performances in pre-season, though, and feels the club's players are respnding well to the style of play he is trying to implement.

"We have played against Kaizer Chiefs, SuperSport United and Highlands Park so far and the players are responding well," Eymael told KickOff.

"Highlands Park we won 2-0, SuperSport United we drew 0-0 and Kaizer Chiefs we lost 2-1. But if you look at the Chiefs game, it was three times 45 minutes and after 90 minutes of the game, we had not conceded a goal.

"Football is played over 90 minutes and not 135 so you could say from that point of view it is pleasing we have not conceded a goal yet in a game over that time period."
