Cape Town - New Free State Stars defender Davies Nkausu hopes to repay his debt to the club after they helped revive his career.

Nkausu's career was at a crossroads when a contract dispute with former team Bloemfontein Celtic left him clubless for the first half of the 2015/16 campaign.

But having made the trip across the province to join Ea Lla Koto, the Zambia international is grateful for the opportunity and says he is enjoying his time at Goble Park.

"I'm relieved and excited to have finally signed for Free State Stars. I'm grateful for the opportunity to play again after a long lay-off," 2012 AFCON winner Nkausu told the club's official website.

"I've felt at home here since the first day I walked through the door for my trial. The players and the management have welcomed me like one of their own.

"The first thing that struck me was the team spirit. We are like a family at this club. A new coach [Giovanni Solinas] has come in and that means a clean slate for all the players.

"I'm ready to knuckle down and make a contribution to the cause. All the players are up for the challenge," said the 30-year-old former AmaTuks and SuperSport United right-back.
