Cape Town - Orlando Pirates caretaker coach Augusto Palacios bemoaned a series of "silly mistakes" after seeing his side suffer a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Bloemfontein Celtic on Tuesday.

The Buccaneers appeared to be heading for a narrow win, thanks to Oupa Manyisa's 11th-minute goal, but Celtic rallied late on to snatch all three points from the jaws of defeat.

Lantshene Phalane levelled matters in the 77th minute, before Mbhazima Rikhotso popped up with the match-winner in the fourth minute of injury-time.

Reflecting on what was a bitter pill to swallow, Palacios told SuperSport: "Disappointing. I don't know what to say.

"First goal; unbelievable. Second goal; unbelievable. Only two players in the box for Celtic [for the free-kick that resulted in the second goal] because they are looking for one point and we can't defend. What can I say?

"They scored earlier, mistake again and not because the opponent created a goal. From their own half, across the field, the ball bounced - goal.

"One minute to go - free-kick. I don't know what to say. I'm sorry for the supporters. I'm bleeding because the supporters do not deserve this.

"We are playing at home and we cannot make these silly mistakes. It's a child's mistake. What can I do? I'm not playing the game.

"I've done my best and I don't want to blame anyone but I'm very concerned and disappointed."

Tuesday's result leaves Pirates languishing in eighth place, ahead of Wednesday evening's round of Premiership fixtures.
