Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane is hoping that new signing Jeremy Brockie will form a deadly partnership up front with Percy Tau.

Brockie arrived in the January transfer window from SuperSport United after a lengthy courtship from Mosimane.

The New Zealand international, the most prolific scorer in the PSL over the last three years, came off the bench to make his debut in Sundowns' 3-0 weekend win over Platinum Stars, showing some nice touches up front for the Brazilians.

Brockie was the top scorer in the CAF Confederation Cup with 10 goals last year and Mosimane is hoping he'll be equally impactful for Masandawana in the 2018 Champions League.

"If he can score 10 goals for us in the Champions League, eight should be able to make him top scorer. Ten will make him top scorer in the Champions League. Hopefully he gets there," Mosimane was quoted saying by KickOff.

The Sundowns coach went on to explain how he plans to get the best out of Brockie, which involves linking up with the brilliant Tau.

"I hope he adjusts quicker. Where am I going to teach Brockie to score the goals? We deliver the ball and he must do the job.

"All he has to do is free himself and make sure that he is not disturbed and I think you know what he will do.

"SuperSport played with three midfielders, so here when he has Percy next to him he will be totally different.

"I don't think he is the kind of striker who plays alone, he needs support because you are going to kill him if you don't. Those who play alone [up front] need to be quick or need to be able to dribble out of trouble and he is not that [type of player].

"So when you spend money on a player like that, you need to support him and you will get what you want."
