Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs defender Keegan Ritchie believes the club will triumph over Mamelodi Sundowns in the Telkom Knockout final at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Amakhosi are desperate to avoid their second final defeat of the season after falling to a 1-0 loss to Ajax Cape Town in the MTN8 final at the beginning of the campaign.

Ritchie is confident the capitulation against the Urban Warriors was a big wake up call for Chiefs and they will be out to make amends on December 16.

"The first one we didn't play well. That gave us a bit of a wake up call to come out and just give everything, and leave our hearts on the field against Sundowns," Ritchie told KickOff.

"There is a lot of pressure now, but the boys are used to that in this game. I think we are up for the challenge."

The Soweto giants have struggled for consistency this term and the defending Premiership champions sit in fourth position on the table, currently a full eight points behind pace-setters Wits, but Ritchie warned people against writing them off too soon.

"The league is a marathon; it is not how you start but how you finish. A lot of the teams in the second-half [of the season] tend to lose form and they go through a dip," he explained.

"While in the second round we play a lot better. Lets see what happens in the second round, and I think we will pick up points.

"I just want to say that people must not write us off yet - we still have a chance of winning the league."
