Thabo September says Ronwen Williams is ready to take over the captain's armband at SuperSport United as he paid tribute to departing skipper Dean Furman.
September knows what it takes to lead Matsatsantsa, having captained the side during a 10-year stay with the club ahead of retiring in 2016.
The former centre-back knows Williams well and praised his leadership skills while admitting it was sad to see Furman leave.
Speaking to KickOff, September said: "It's sad to see him leaving the club after five years of great service.
"He lifted trophies. He was a great leader both and off the field. He led by example, a great professional and Dean trains the way he plays.
"The youngsters and even myself have learnt a lot of good things from him. He is leaving the club because of a family decision. We wish him well and we will miss him."
September added: "He (Williams) is definitely ready. I have worked with him for a long time," says September.
"He is a great person and player. He is also a great leader and very vocal. He has always had leadership qualities; it was just a matter of time to get the opportunity."
