Cape Town - Orlando Pirates chairperson Irvin Khoza have confirmed that club captain Oupa Manyisa has joined Mamelodi Sundowns.

At the unveiling of the club's new head coach Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic, Khoza 'sadly' announced the departure of the midfielder..

"I want to sadly announce that one of our key players will be joining Mamelodi Sundowns," said Khoza at the press conference.

"There were serious discussions with Mr Patrice Motsepe, discussing for the last two-three days.

"It was not an easy decision, especially in terms of the value of the player, what he means to the supporters and what he means to the club.

"After serious soul-searching I thought it was in the best interest of the player."

Manyisa has donned the Pirates jersey for more than 250 appearances and has 27 goals to his name.

During his time at the club, the 29-year-old has won 11 trophies - PSL (2010/2011, 2011/12), Nedbank Cup (2011, 2014), MTN8 Cup (2010, 2011), Telkom Knockout (2011) and Carling Black Label (2011, 2012, 2014, 2015).
