Cape Town - Golden Arrows loanee Jabulani Shongwe admitted the referee made the correct decision to send him off in the 2-1 loss to Bidvest Wits on Saturday.

Shongwe was dismissed against his parent club for attempting to drag Gabadinho Mhango off the field along with Matome Mathiane, as the Arrows pair believed the Malawian was faking injury.

Mathiane escaped without punishment, but James Keene was also red-carded for shoving Shongwe, who is on a season-long loan at Abafana Bes'thende.

Speaking to KickOff after the game, he explained: "Eish, we wanted to equalise and these people... I ended up trying to take Mhango off the field.

"What I did was wrong, though, but I did speak to him about it afterwards and everything is fine now between us, it's not personal. He understands it's football.

"He was busy lying on the ground pretending to be injured. When I confronted him he told me he was tired. He told me that while he was still lying down there... and we wanted a goal by then."

However, Shongwe confessed: "For me the red card was fair, I accept it because what I did was wrong. But as people we don't see things the same way.

"Obviously what I did wasn't right because it wasn't for me to decide if he [Mhango] should leave the field. Maybe they were still waiting for their doctor. We didn't realise that the referee had ignored him.

"To the Arrows fans, what I did was wrong and I apologise to all the supporters."

The defeat to Wits saw Arrows slip below them in the Premiership table. Clinton Larsen's side are currently 13th, while the Students moved up to 10th place.
