Cape Town - French club Stade Reims have hailed Marshall Munetsi as a 'player for the future' after signing him from Orlando Pirates on a four-year-deal.

Reims’ director general Mathieu Lacour has pointed out Munetsi's experience of playing in the CAF Champions League and upcoming AFCON, while praising his versatility.

Translated from the club's official website, Lacour said: "The recruitment of Marshall Munetsi is part of a logic of the future… He is a referenced player in Africa who has climbed the ladder one after the other and displays good experience at his age with high level matches in the CAF Champions League. The AFCON, which he will take part at the end of the month, will also gain him in experience.

"Marshall has a great versatility since he can evolve at different positions in the middle of the field. His characteristics, in particular, his athletic density and his volume of play, correspond to a rare profile which was checked by the staff.

"The idea, at first, will be to accompany the player in the discovery of European and French football so that it gives full term its full potential at the Stade de Reims."

Munetsi is busy preparing for AFCON with the Zimbabwe national team and plays either in defence or midfield.
