Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs’ second home Absa Premiership at the Cape Town Stadium ended in defeat, as they fell 2-1 at the hands of Platinum Stars on Sunday.
Eleazar Rodgers scored a late brace of goals to see Dikwena to a surprise victory, with the Amakhosi looking on course to claim the points after a goal in the stroke of half-time from Camaldine Abraw.Stars winger Mduduzi Nyanda's curling corner-kick was headed against the crossbar by his teammate Isaac Nhlapo just seven minutes into game.
In the 15th minute, Chiefs striker Camaldine Abraw's acrobatic effort from inside the Dikwena box went straight into goalkeeper Mbongeni Mzimela's hands.
Amakhosi centre back Lorenzo Gordinho was booked after conceding a free-kick on the edge of the Chiefs box in the 20th minute.
However, Dikwena's attacking midfielder Tintswalo Tshabalala's resultant free-kick was easily gathered by keeper Reyaad Pieterse.
Play was stopped for a few minutes after Mzimela collided with Togolese forward Abraw in the 26th minute as the former received medical treatment.
In the 35th minute, former Black Leopards winger Tshabalala unleashed a shot from range which sailed over Pieterse' goal-posts.
However, the home side broke the deadlock on the stroke of half-time when Abraw headed home Siphiwe Tshabalala's free-kick.
Amakhosi midfielder George Maluleka was denied magnificently denied by Dikwena keeper Mzimela twice a few minutes after the restart.
Maluleka was again involved in the 52nd minute when he played a good pass to William Twala inside the Stars box and the latter turned and fired wide of the target.
At the other end Bonginkosi Ntuli's effort beat Chiefs goal-minder Pieterse two minutes later, but the upright came to the rescue and the rebound was cleared.
The bulky striker then turned inside the Chiefs box in the 57th minute and forced Pieterse into a great save at his near-post as Dikwena continued to press the home side.
In the 67th minute, Amakhosi captain Tshabalala played a cross into the Dikwena box and his teammate Lorenzo Gordinho headed the ball straight into Mzimela's hands.
Malawi international midfielder Robert Ng'ambi's acrobatic strike from just inside the Chiefs box was easily saved Pieterse with 14 minutes left on the clock.
Substitute Eleazar Rodgers snatched a late goal in the 86th minute when he headed home Robert Ng'ambi's cross from the right to make it 1-1.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns striker then scored again in the 93rd minute from close range to seal a 2-1 win to Stars on the day.
