Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns booked their place in the 2016 MTN8 final, beating Chippa United 1-0 in the second-leg semifinal at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Wednesday night.

Super sub Anothony Laffor with the only goal of the game.

Pitso Mosimane's men will next face Bidvest Wits in the final of the Top Eight competition. The showpiece will take place at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit on the 1st of October.

With the first-leg in Port Elizabeth having ended in a goalless stalemate, the pressure was on the home side to produce the goods - knowing that an away goal for Chippa on the night would count as double.

Inspired by this fact, Sundowns went on the attack from the onset and after Keagan Dolly and Khama Billiat went close, Wayne Arendse directed his header attempt straight at Daniel Akpeyi on 24 minutes.

Chippa grew into the clash and bossed the rest of the half with Andile Mbenyane unlucky to see his deflected effort fly wide.

Mosimane introduced Laffor just short of the hour mark and the Liberian would produced to goods from the bench once more.

A swift counter-attack ending with Sibusiso Vilakazi teeing up his Sundowns teammate, Laffor making no mistake - hammering a low shot into the back of the net to send the home fans into absolute delirium.

Chippa pressed forward for what would have proved to be the winner, but for the six game in succession, the Chilli Boys were unable to score against the Tshwane giants.
