Johannesburg - Newly signed Kaizer Chiefs defender Ramahlwe Mphahlele said it was not an easy decision to make when he opted to leave Mamelodi Sundowns two months ago.

The 26-year-old captained the Brazilians to their 7th Absa Premiership crown last season but failed to agree on a new contract which led to him joining Amakhosi on a three-year deal.

The former Moroka Swallows man hinted that he felt very emotional when he made the decision to leave Chloorkop after spending four seasons there.

“It was a very hard decision to make that’s why I made that decision in the last five days of my contract,” said Mphahlele.

“So that tells you how much difficulties I faced before deciding to leave Sundowns.

“With the respect that the club (Sundowns) gave to me and the way I love the team as well as the relationship I had with the players.

“It was not just about me packing my bags and leave because I had great memories there, I felt like a son to the President (Patrice Motsepe) and the entire technical team.

“So I felt very emotional leaving Sundowns.”
