Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns have reportedly extended the contract of goalkeeper Thela Ngobeni, who is currently on loan at Free State Stars, until 2018/19.

The shot-stopper was first-choice for Ea Lla Koto during the 2016/17 season while on loan, however, he has not featured in many games for Stars during his second stint at the club.

The player returned to the Luc Eymael-coached outfit during the last January window in order to get more playing time as he was down the pecking order at Chloorkop with Denis Onyango established as number one.

Yet, upon his return game-time has been difficult to come by although he did feature in Stars' previous two Nedbank Cup fixtures.

Nonetheless, the player has had his contract with the 2016 African champions extended despite not playing very regularly while on loan in Bethlehem.

A Soccer Laduma report said: "Sundowns have extended his stay at the Chloorkop-based club (until the end of 2018/19), where he will be returning at the end of the current season."
