Mamelodi Sundowns on Thursday announced that 34-year-old captain Hlompho Kekana has extended his stay at the club by signing a new four-year deal.

The Bafana Bafana international has made over 300 first-team appearances for Sundowns since joining the club in 2011. Kekana has had an illustrious career with the Brazilians winning four Absa Premiership titles, One Nedbank Cup title, one Telkom Knockout Cup, One CAF Champions League trophy and one SuperCup.

"The Skipper has been an integral part of the Brazilians team in the CAF Champions League, featuring in five games during this season's campaign," the club said in a statement.

"All great teams have strong leaders and Kekana fits the bill, ensuring that he leads the line by example as Sundowns remain unbeaten at home in the competition this year.

Kekana has scored four goals while providing six assists across all competitions this season. With his stellar form now being rewarded with a new contract that will run until 2024.
