Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane was relieved that the injury to Bongani Zungu did not derail their tactics after the 3-2 win over Maritzburg United at the Harry Gwala Stadium.

The influential Zungu was substituted before the half-time break on Saturday following a collision with Philani Zulu, although a brace from Hlompho Kekana and one goal from Khama Billiat secured the points for Sundowns, after Evans Rusike and Brian Onyango's strikes threatened a comeback from Maritzburg.

And, speaking after the game, Mosimane hailed the team for maintaining their structure after Mzikayise Mashaba was brought on as replacement for Zungu.

"They came back at the end, I had to make a tactical change and that compromised the team because I had to disturb the usual four at the back," Mosimane told KickOff.

"I had to bring Langerman to the front, to the winger's position and take Mashaba. Now once you bring that tactical switch it brings an un-balance but Langerman was afraid to get a red card.

"To be honest we are happy, we got the three points, we came to this field to win. On this field you need three goals plus to get a result and we got that."
