Pretoria - Mamelodi Sundowns attacking midfielder Percy Tau believes he was denied two legitimate penalties by referee, Daniel Bennett, in their weekend win over arch-rivals Kaizer Chiefs.

The Brazilians returned to winning ways with a 2-1 victory over the Amakhosi in an Absa Premiership clash played at the Loftus stadium on Saturday.

Teboho Langerman and Sibusiso Vilakazi were on target for the Brazilians while former Sundowns skipper, Ramahlwe Mphahlele, scored for the Phefeni Glamour Boys.

Despite being denied for both penalty calls, the 22-year-old defended the match officials for their decisions stating that as human beings we can expect them to make errors sometimes.

"The referee didn’t want to give it (penalty) to me," Tau jokes.

"I asked him why and he said that he didn’t think it was a penalty but instead he gave me a yellow card.

"He said he will check on television replays if he was spot on or not but referees are human beings as well, they also make mistakes so we don’t have to be harsh towards them."

Sundowns will face Golden Arrows at home in their next league assignment while Chiefs will host SuperSport United at the FNB Stadium on Wednesday.
