Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane says the Brazilians are looking to sign three more players in the January transfer window.

The Chloorkop side have already secured the services of attacking midfielder Aubrey Ngoma from Cape Town City and with the CAF Champions League on the horizon, Mosimane wants to bolster his squad for Africa’s biggest club competition.

"We have a small squad, but everyone knows Sundowns and having big numbers," said Mosimane in a post-match press conference following his side's 2-1 win over Ajax Cape Town at the Cape Town Stadium on Tuesday.

"We don’t have big numbers, we have got a small squad, we’ve got 24 players and that is why everybody has to play at Sundowns.

"So, as much as we are fighting to try and win the (Absa) Premiership, we are also, I would call it (preparing) for the Champions League, we start in six weeks time, so we have a different programme.

"Our objectives are different, that’s why this is the time to sign players for us, not in June, that is why we brought Aubrey (Ngoma) to come, we have to bring three more," Mosimane revealed.

"At least if you have a squad of 24 again, I am happy with 24, it means some of the players will have to leave now, but you can't let players go when you don’t have those who you wish.

"So, I think we will bring in three more," he added.

The domestic transfer window opened on Tuesday, January 2 and will close on Wednesday, January 31.

Sundowns have been linked with a move for SuperSport United striker Jeremy Brockie and the New Zealand international was keen on switching allegiance to the yellow side of Pretoria before the 2017/18 season.

However, Mosimane was mum when asked about the possibility of luring the 30-year-old away from Matsatsantsa.

“Jeremy belongs to another club. So, I must respect SuperSport United. I can’t talk about Jeremy,” Mosimane said.

Meanwhile, Sundowns shift their focus to Saturday’s clash against Soweto giants Orlando Pirates at Loftus Versfeld.

Kick-off is at 15:30.
