Cape Town - Aubrey Ngoma is suspended, but Tshepo Gumede is back from his ban as Cape Town City clash against SuperSport United on Tuesday evening.

Gumede missed Friday's 1-0 home win over Free State Stars through suspension, while Ngoma, a key player for his side this season, was booked in that game to make it an accumulation of four yellow cards and a one match ban. Defender Robyn Johannes falls into the same category.

SuperSport have several players one card away from a suspension, but they all managed to avoid being booked in Matsatsantsa's thrilling 3-2 victory over Polokwane City on Saturday.

With three games left to play this season, City are in third spot with 52 points, five points adrift of league leaders Bidvest Wits. SuperSport are in fifth position and have 45 points, their hopes of challenging for the title having faded over the last few weeks.

City have also not been able to keep pace with Bidvest Wits and Mamelodi Sundowns, although head coach Eric Tinkler says his priority now is to hold onto third spot.

"Right now we were sitting in third and we need to finish the season in this position at least‚" Tinkler was quoted saying by the SowetanLIVE website.

"If we can finish higher‚ that's great‚ but unfortunately that relies on others. Wits need to drop points‚ Sundowns too.

"If we could finish third it would be a phenomenal achievement and after the season we have had‚ I think we owe it to ourselves to make it happen."

SuperSport coach Stuart Baxter meanwhile is in his last month or two at the club after he was announced as Bafana Bafana coach last week.

He'll be looking for improved focus in defence after Matsatsantsa twice allowed Polokwane to pull a goal back on the weekend.

"I though the boys played well and showed character," Baxter said. "They showed character to get into the lead twice but then give away two very poor goals to allow a good team to get back into the game.

"Then they showed character again to keep playing football. I thought the third goal was an excellent goal and it is a great example of how you want to play the game."

The match at the Lucas Moripe Stadium kicks off at 19:30.
