Cape Town - Cape Town City head coach Eric Tinkler praised his sides ability to secure a crucial 3-2 win over Kaizer Chiefs, in what could be a title defining fixture.

The Citizens have been performing well beyond expectations this season, leading the Absa Premiership by two points, ahead of Champions Mamelodi Sundowns and their win over Amakhosi reaffirmed their status as title favorites; in their first season in the South African top-flight.

Judas Moseamedi's 93rd minute winner provided the home support at Cape Town Stadium a state of euphoria in a thrilling mid-week encounter, after Aubrey Ngoma and Lebogang Manyama's goals were canceled out by Siphiwe Tshabalala and Joseph Malongoane.

"It was great for the fans, but not great for my heart. I thought first half we were very good," Tinkler told reporters.

"Just a lapse of concentration after having scored, we allowed them back into the game.

"(Chiefs) really played well in the second half, they created a lot of chance and possibly deserved to go up 3-2 themselves but the boys showed good character.

"I thought the goal they scored, Shu-Aib (Walters) didn't have to come off his line, if he stayed one his line he could have dealt with it. But we'll take the three points and run."

Tinkler and his side travel to the Harry Gwala Stadium on the May 1, for their next league outing against the unpredictable Maritzburg United.

Kick off is at 15:00.
