Cape Town - Orlando Pirates coach Eric Tinkler has urged his side to start taking their chances following Saturday's disappointing 1-1 draw with Platinum Stars.

The Buccaneers created more than enough chances to claim all three points on the day, but were forced to share of the spoils as Tintswalo Tshabalala found the net early in the second-half to cancel out Issa Sarr's first-half opener.

"If you look at the balance of how we play, you will see that this team leads the way in the chances created, we are top when it comes to having the most into the final third, and we are also right up there with the most attempts," Tinkler told the club's official website.

"So we are consistently getting into the right areas, which I'm happy about. The next thing is to convert them.

"We can create those situations in training, where we simulate pressure situations and work with the player on what they should do under certain circumstances, but at the end of the day it has to come from the player."

Looking back on his side's performance, Tinkler admits he was disappointed with certain aspects of individual performances as well as the result.

"I'm disappointed because we should have got three points," Tinkler added.

"We were very nervy in the beginning and made too many individual errors.

"When we got into a rhythm we'd undo it by giving the ball away cheaply, so it put us under pressure unnecessarily. We gave away too many set-pieces, but were encouraged by how we dealt with them.

"At half-time we spoke about remaining focused and not giving away anything or get caught on the counter while we are pushing for the second goal.

"We discussed this but then shortly after the restart we conceded a goal off the set-piece. It was definitely two points lost as opposed to the one point gained."

Next up for Pirates is a clash with University of Pretoria at the Orlando Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Tinkler's men currently find themselves sitting in 12th place on 12 points, while Tuks are second from bottom on nine points.

Kick-off is at 19:30.
