Cape Town - Orlando Pirates coach Eric Tinkler admits his side were once again let down by their wastefulness in front of goal following Saturday's shock 1-0 loss to Jomo Cosmos.

The Buccaneers enjoyed numerous chances at Olen Park this weekend but were made to pay dearly for costly misses, none more glaring than Lehlohonolo Majoro's penalty effort which was saved by Sherwyn Naicker in the first-half.

Cosmos eventually went on to snatch the points through Charlton Mashumba with 15 minutes remaining, with the result leaving Pirates 12th in the Premiership standings with 16 points from 14 games.

"We had chances, we had the penalty, and if you don't take chances it comes back to haunt you," said Tinkler.

"The chances they got came from errors on our part.

"It was important that defensively we are focused and remain disciplined, so it's disappointing that we ended up conceding."

The coach also shouldered some of the responsibility after his substitutions failed to have the desired effect, with the boss saying: "Things weren't going well for (Thamsanqa) Gabuza and Major (Majoro) so we hoped (Tendai) Ndoro and (Yasser Mugerwa) Mugerwa would change it up for us. Unfortunately it didn't."
