Cape Town - Cape Town City coach Eric Tinkler remained transparent as ever in his post-match interview after the 4-2 defeat against Supersport United.

The result on Tuesday night all but mathematically ends the Citizens' slim title hopes this season, as they trail league leaders Bidvest Wits by five points - with two games to go.

Lehlohonolo Majoro opened the scoring for the visitors at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium, before Thabo Mnyamane and Clayton Daniels overturned the deficit with goals either side of the break.

Club captain Lebogang Manyama found an equaliser from the spot on the hour mark, to move to the top of the Premiership scorers list - but Matstsatsansa rallied back with goals from Jeremy Brockie and Thuso Phala to secure the three points.

"I think we felt the loss of Aubrey and we tried to adapt players and play them out of position. Judas (Moseamedi) is trying it there but the combinations weren't very good," he said after the game.

"They're a quality team and we've always known that. They're a team on the counter-attack that are very good, on set-pieces they are very good and that is where they punished us."
