Cape Town - Turkish side Erzurumspor have announced an agreement in principle to sign veteran midfielder Siphiwe Tshabalala from Kaizer Chiefs.

Tshabalala, 33, was linked with a move overseas after his good form in the 2010 FIFA World Cup. However, that failed to materialise.

Now, after 11 and a half years at Naturena, the 2010 South African Football Association footballer of the year is finally set to leave his home country's shores to sign for a new club.

"Principle agreement reached for the official signature of the experienced footballer will take place two days after he travels to Erzurum (translated from Turkish)," read a statement on Erzurumspor's website.

"Siphiwe Tshabalala is a position number 10 midfielder, will sign a 2-year deal (translated from Turkish)."

'Shabba', as he is affectionately known, has been one of South African football's household names since making his Bafana debut in January 2006 against Egypt while still at Free State Stars.

Erzurumspor sit 16th on the Turkish league table, having lost their two opening games.
