Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo scored the winner for TTM as they beat Maritzburg United 1-0 in their DStv Premiership clash at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.

Both sides came out with a positive setup and had early attempts at goal as they looked to make a fast breakthrough. Thabiso Kutumela missed with his long range effort before Thabo Mnyamane sent his shot from a difficult angle wide at the other end of the pitch.

The first shot on target arrived in the 23rd minute when Lerato Lamola directed a header on goal from Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo's cross, but it was kept out by goalkeeper Marcel Engelhardt.

Daylon Claasen also got in on the action as he unleashed an effort from outside the TTM box, only to see it miss to the right of goal.

Engelhardt was tested twice in rapid succession as Ndlondlo shot from outside the area with his right foot before trying again with his left. The goalkeeper kept both at bay.

In the TTM goal, Washington Arubi was called upon to make a save of his own just before the break as Celimpilo Ngema tried his luck. The strike lacked conviction and the goalkeeper got down well to make the stop.

In the first few minutes of the second stanza, Judas Moseamedi sent a shot wide after a long goal kick from Engelhardt provided the opportunity to attack.

TTM's Thabo Rakhale attempted to open the scoring with a headed effort following good play from Ndivhuwo Ravhuhali, but his direction was wide of the mark.

Rakhale then turned provider as he set up a chance for Mnyamane, but the experienced campaigner missed narrowly to the left.

The breakthrough finally arrived in the 67th minute as Ndlondlo found the bottom right corner of the goal to give TTM the lead, after the assist came in from Lerato Lamola.

TTM looked set to double the advantage as Lehlohonolo Nonyane headed goalwards but Engelhardt pulled off a great save to keep United in the game.

Ndlondlo's goal was enough to secure three valuable points for TTM as they moved away from the relegation zone, while pulling United into the battle for survival.
