Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs' versatile defender Daniel Cardoso says he is willing to play in central midfield should it help the Glamour Boys achieve success.

Cardoso has spent 2018/19 playing centre-back for Chiefs although historically he has played in a variety of positions across the defence.

During his time at Naturena the 29-year-old has played as a full-back on either side, as a central defender or as part of a back three as well as a stint as a defensive midfielder.

Nonetheless, the player, who was not selected for Amakhosi's defeat to SuperSport United in the MTN8 semi-finals, says he will play anywhere if it helps the Giovanni Solinas-coached outfit.

He told SoccerLaduma: "Put me anywhere on the field and I will do the job. You can put me at left back, right back, centre-back or central midfield and I will always try to do my best to help the team.

"This game is my bread and butter, this puts a roof over my head and I don't want to let anyone down."

Chiefs are next in action in the Absa Premiership on September 15 against Cape Town City where Cardoso will no doubt hope to reclaim his place in the side.
