Cape Town - Veteran striker Henrico Botes insists he can contribute to Platinum Stars' objectives, despite turning 37 at the end of the year.

The Namibian returned to Platinum Stars for his second stint at the club after parting ways with Wits at the end of last season.

Botes believes he can add value to Cavin Johnson's team by playing a mentoring role for the younger players after seven were promoted from the academy.

"It is good to be back, it almost feels like I never left. The spirit in the team and the culture of the club is still the same," Botes told Goal.

"It is good to be back and I am just looking forward to the new season. The last time I was here we did really well, we had a great team. Obviously there are a lot of new players at the club now, a lot of new youngsters which is very exciting.

"I don't think a lot of PSL clubs can say that they have promoted seven youngsters in one season, so that is very good for the club, good for the North West province as well.

"My duty is not just down to playing, but to help the new players settle, guide them, keep them humble. I am confident that we can do well as a team this season."
