Cape Town - Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt has hinted that the defending Absa Premiership champions are on the verge of signing Abbubaker Mobara from Orlando Pirates.

With the Clever Boys set to take part in the African Champions League and undergoing an unexpected relegation dogfight, it appears the side are eager to strengthen in all departments after something of a disastrous first half to the season.

In addition, the Nedbank Cup begins in February and so the squad is currently being revamped. New arrivals include striker Lehlohonolo Majoro‚ defensive midfielder Edwin Gyimah‚ and defenders Denis Weidlich and Keegan Ritchie.

The most high profile exit was former Everton star Steven Pienaar who currently remains clubless and doubts surround his future. Nonetheless, Hunt revealed that a deal to secure Mobara's services was seemingly on the cards.

He told the Sowetan, "Hopefully something will happen. I am not involved‚ the chairman and my CEO are involved‚ so hopefully things will happen in the next day or two.

“We need all good players at the moment‚ any good player that is available at the moment can help us. It is not even about certain positions‚ we need good players in all positions."
