Cape Town - Young Africans (Yanga SC) coach Luc Eymael has confirmed the club are not looking to sign Kaizer Chiefs midfielder James Kotei.

Chiefs are looking to offload Kotei, who has failed to make a competitive appearance for the club since arriving at the beginning of the season, so as to make space for another foreign player in highly-rated Kenyan midfielder Anthony Akumu.

Akumu was spotted in the stands during Chiefs' 3-0 victory over Highlands Park last Wednesday and is set to sign a three-year deal at Naturena, after details of his contract were leaked to Goal.

Ghanaian midfielder Kotei has been linked with Tanzanian sides Young Africans (Yanga) and Simba FC (former club) as well as Zambian giants ZESCO, but former Free State Stars, Polokwane City and Black Leopards boss Luc Eymael, who has only recently taken over at Yanga, has ruled his club out of the race as they feel the 26-year-old is not in the right frame of mind.

"Kotei is not coming back to Yanga because he is not okay, his mind is not okay, he wants to relax a bit from football for some months before signing a new contract somewhere else," Eymael told Goal.

Asked whether he had any interest to sign the player, Eymael told Goal: "I think he is not a bad player, and I did not speak to him but officials from the club [Yanga] spoke to him and now it is finished because of what he said and now the story is a closed chapter."

Eymael has signed an 18-month deal at Yanga and will be joined by former Free State Stars assistant Riedoh Berdien.
