Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns have received a stern warning from Zamalek legend Hazem Emam ahead of Sunday's CAF Champions League second-leg clash in Egypt.

Sundowns enjoy a 3-0 first-leg advantage and go into the tie with a chance to make history - if the Brazilians were to secure the title, it would be their first honour on the African continent.

In 2001 the side from Chloorkop reached the final but were thumped 4-1 by Al-Ahly.

With that said, Emam has warned that the contest on Sunday is far from over in what is sure to be an intimidating environment in Alexandria.

Close to 100,000 fans are expected to attend the match, which no doubt further adds to the pressure Pitso Mosimane's men are facing.

In addition, in the lead up to the encounter, certain players in the Downs squad were said to have received death threats on social media.

Nonetheless, the former White Knights attacking midfielder believes Zamalek could still win the Champions League trophy.

He told Sada El Balad: "Final matches don't require talking about plans and tactics. They're about players playing with spirit.

"Any African team that plays in Egypt collapses after conceding an early goal in the first 10 minutes of the game due to pressure from fans attending the match.

"Sundowns' defense line is their weakest link and we need to take advantage of this through passes from Ayman Hefny and movements of Bassem Morsy and Stanley (Ohawuchi)."
