Johannesburg - Wits midfielder Sibusiso Vilakazi believes that Kaizer Chiefs are favourites to win their Nedbank Cup semi-final encounter.

According to the soccerladuma website, reacting to Monday’s draw that saw the Students being pitted against the defending champions, Vilakazi said it would be very difficult for Wits to beat Chiefs.

“It’s a tough draw for us. As defending champions, Chiefs will be looking to defend their titles, so it’s really going to be difficult to beat them,” said Vilakazi.

“As you know, Chiefs have always given us problems in cup games. They seem to have our number when it comes to cup games, but I’m hoping that we’ll beat them this time around.

“We have been doing well lately especially in the league, so I hope that we’ll carry that momentum into this cup game against Chiefs,” added Vilakazi.

Chiefs gave Wits a 3-0 drubbing when the two teams met in this competition last season and the Students will be hoping to avoid the repeat of that heavy loss.

The dates and venues for the Nedbank Cup semi-finals will be announced at a later stage.
