An own goal by Joseph Douhadji was enough for Baroka FC to reach the Nedbank Cup semi-finals after a hard-fought 1-0 win over Black Leopards in a Limpopo derby played at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Stadium.

In a tightly contested affair, the result was always going to be decided by a moment of brilliance or a mistake and it was the latter that came to the fore.

Both teams did not create many chances in the first half, with Tshidiso Patjie going the closest for Baroka but his free kick went just wide.

Leopards had a strong appeal for a penalty turned down close to the half-hour mark when Mfanafuthi Shozi seemed to have been brought down by Thobani Mncwango.

Mwape Musonda then squandered the best chance of the game as the striker shot straight at Baroka goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze from point-blank range.

Bakgakga then had a golden opportunity to take the lead but Gerald Phiri missed a penalty after Evidence Makgopa was fouled by Mumuni Abubakar in the box.

However, with just 10 minutes remaining, Douhadji turned an innocuous cross into his own net to give Baroka the lead.

Lidoda Duvha huffed and puffed to find an equaliser but ultimately Baroka stood firm to join Bidvest in the last four of the Nedbank Cup.
