Johannesburg - Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune admitted that it took some strong words from coach Steve Komphela to turn around Sunday's Nedbank Cup game against Golden Arrows.

Amakhosi went into the half -time break of their last-32 encounter at the FNB Stadium locked at 0-0 with the Durban side.

But they came out firing in the second half as goals from Ryan Moon, Bernard Parker, and Joseph Molangoane secured a 3-0 win over Arrows and kept the Soweto giants' dreams of a league and cup double alive.

Man-of-the-Match Khune admitted that Chiefs were not up to scratch in the first half and explained how the turnabout came:

"In the first half, I don't think we played according to our game-plan. We were very poor," the Bafana Bafana stopper said.

"The coach gave us a tongue-lashing at the break and we came out better in the second half. So I think we always need to get that before playing our best game."

The Glamour Boys now turn their focus to the league - they host Cape Town City this coming Saturday before taking on Bloemfontein Celtic and then Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates on March 3.

Chiefs are fourth on the standings, seven points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.
