Cape Town - Baroka FC midfielder Letladi Madubanya says his side are ready to give Kaizer Chiefs a run for their money in their battle to reach the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup.

The two teams will go head to head in the quarter-finals in Port Elizabeth on Saturday.

Madubanya said the match also gives Baroka the platform to get their revenge on Amakhosi, having lost 2-1 to Chiefs in a league match in January.

The former Platinum Stars stars midfielder admitted that playing against the Premiership big guns is always a big motivation for smaller teams like theirs to outplay their opponents.

“We are ready for the match and these are the sort of games we look forward to,” Madubanya exclusively told Vodacom Soccer.

“I think we learnt a lot since we last played against them in a league match.

“We know it is not going to be tough especially at this stage of the competition.”

The big midfielder, who was handed the captain’s armband after the club parted ways with former skipper Olaleng Shaku, said he is honoured to have been given the responsibility of leading his teammates.

Madubanya added: "It is a huge responsibility and it means the club think I can represent them well on and off the field.

"We really have a good team and we are optimistic about finishing the season as high as we can with the goal being to be among the top eight teams in the standings.

"We would like to do well in the cup too."
