Cape Town - Bafana Bafana striker Lebo Mothiba is said to be on the verge of making a switch from Lille to RC Strasbourg in France's Ligue 1.

Reports in France suggest that the transfer fee will be up to €8 million (R136 million) that will make Mothiba South Africa's most expensive ever player.

The powerful 22-year-old forward has enjoyed a rapid rise in the last year and a half as he impressed on loan at Valenciennes in Ligue 2, before winning a return to his parent club.

The Bafana star scored on his debut in the French top-flight and a bright future is predicted for the Johannesburg-born star.

Since making his bow for the Great Danes, Mothiba has gone on to register five goals in 14 appearances for the outfit from the Hauts-de-France region in northern France.

As such, he has seemingly caught the eye of those in the know in that country and according to L'Equipe, he is set to secure a move to Strasbourg imminently.

The South African is set to undergo a medical and the deal will reportedly be confirmed before the close of the August transfer window on Friday.

The striker is part of the SA national team squad set to take on Libya in a crucial AFCON qualifier on 8 September.
