Cape Town - The Soccer World Cup is not always about the soccer, it's also about players trying to attract new clubs attention, potential new deals at current clubs and a growing social media presence.

We all know someone who likes to brag about the amount of Twitter followers they have but which World Cup star has the bragging rights when it comes to gaining the most Twitter followers during the competition in Brazil?

The London Evening Standard has kept an eye out for those top performing players and this time it's not a subjective view on the performance on the pitch but the cold hard facts on who has gained the most followers on Twitter whilst trying to get a hold on the SWC trophy in Brazil.

It's not a player from the host nation who gets this honour but a European starlet.
Man of the Match against Nigeria and the winner of the "Twitter follower growth" title is French star Paul Pogba, who's following has increased a mammoth 505% during Brazil 2014.
