Anderson, Djokovic off to flying start in Toronto

Cape Town - Kevin Anderson and Novak Djokovic started their doubles partnership on a winning note at the Rogers Cup in Toronto on Monday.

The South African star and 13-time Grand Slam champion defeated the Canadian duo of Denis Shapovalov and Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-3, 6-2 in their first-round match on Monday.

Anderson and Djokovic paired up less than a month after they contested the Wimbledon men’s singles final, with the Serbian winning in straight-sets 6-2, 6-2, 7-6 (7/3).

In their second-round match, Anderson and Djokovic will face the formidable third-seeded French pairing of Nicolas Mahut and Pierre-Hugues Herbert.

Anderson is the fourth seed in the singles event and has a bye in the first round.
