Cape Town - South Africa's Kevin Anderson has advanced through to the quarter-finals of the ATP Maharashtra Open in Pune on Wednesday.
The South African won his last-16 match after Thiago Monteiro of Brazil retired hurt in the second set.
At that point, the 2017 US Open finalist was leading 7-6(4) 3-2.
Anderson, who is currently the world No 14, is the number two seed for the tournament behind Marin Cilic.
Shortly after Monteiro retired, Anderson decided to entertain the Indian crowd by hitting signed tennis balls with a cricket bat, which the 31-year-old deemed as his "second favourite sport" (see video below).
Last weekend, Anderson clinched the 10th edition of the Mubadala World Tennis Championship in Abu Dhabi.
He defeated Roberto Bautista Agut of Spain 6-4, 7-6 (7/0) in the final to win the exhibition tournament.
