Cape Town - It has been a long wait, but Kevin Anderson will finally get his 2017 French Open campaign underway on day three of the tournament on Tuesday.

The French Open is the only Grand Slam that splits up its first round action over three days, and Anderson is a part of the final group that will take to the courts on day three.

The South African No 1, and world number 56, takes on Tunisia's Malek Jaziri on Court 16 in the second match of the day.

He is expected to be on court at around 13:00 (SA time).

Anderson does not have a fantastic record at Roland Garros. In seven attempts he has only moved beyond the third round twice, and lost in the fourth round on both of those occasions in 2013 and 2014.

He has been eliminated in the first round twice - in 2010 and 2016.

But despite slipping down the rankings over the past year-or-so, the 31-year-old is in good spirits ahead of his match on Tuesday and he took to Twitter just hours before he opened his account in Paris.

If Anderson wins on Tuesday, he is likely to play Australian Nick Kyrgios in the second round.
