Cape Town - Stan Wawrinka has revealed that he is brimming with confidence following a decent few days on the clay courts of Europe.

Wawrinka defeated Mischa Zverev in the final of the Geneva Open on Saturday and backed it up with a straight sets win over Jozef Kovalik to reach the second round at Roland Garros on Tuesday.

"I'm feeling good and I'm happy with the match today, in general," the Swiss Ace said in his press conference.

"I think it was never an easy transition after winning [in Geneva] on Saturday. I think I'm playing well. I've got some matches, some wins, and then you find your confidence, you start to play better. I have been practicing well. I'm happy to have won some big matches."

Wawrinka was nearly forced to play at least another set when Kovalik earned three set points in the second set. However, the third seed rallied to save them all after some aggressive shotmaking.
"I tried to play more aggressively, put more pressure on him," continued the 2015 Roland Garros winnner.
"As long as the set is not over, there is still room to win it, especially when your opponent is down one set. I think this was a solid match. I'm very happy about how I managed it. I had good feelings playing."

Wawrinka will face the dangerous Alexandr Dolgopolov in the second round in Paris.
