Janko Tipsarevic banks R600 000 for 5 points won!

Cape Town - Serbia's Janko Tipsarevic has insisted he should not be judged for pocketing £35 000 (R600 000) after winning just FIVE points before retiring from his Round 1 clash at Wimbledon on Tuesday.

Tipsarevic, 33, was 5-0 down to American Jared Donaldson when he quit with a leg injury after just 15 minutes of his match.

Of the total 25 points played, Tipsarevic won just five - or R120 000 for every point won.

Tipsarevic was the seventh player to retire with an ailment in the first round along at the All England Club.

Other notable retirees included Alexandr Dolgopolov, who quit when trailing 6-3, 3-0 against Roger Federer.

Federer's title rival Novak Djokovic also progresses to the second round in just 40 minutes when Martin Klizan, suffering from a calf injury, retired at 6-3, 2-0 down.
