In his debut Sport24 column, former Bulls and Saracens director of rugby, Alan Zondagh, looks at how South African rugby can use the exciting "Big Four" franchise European move to overhaul our entire rugby structures.

SA Rugby and all involved must be commended for securing the future of our professional franchises - the Stormers, Sharks, Bulls and Lions - after Super Rugby's demise.

In its place, the United Rugby Championship (URC) will be a great avenue for our top players plying their trade in South Africa to develop their skills and compete in the Northern Hemisphere.
