Picking a Springbok squad is more complex than simply opting for the players who have been in electrifying form, writes Nick Mallett.

This weekend we have two South African sides playing in the United Rugby Championship (URC) semi-finals, and while booking a spot in the tournament final will be the obvious priority, there are also Springbok places up for grabs.

No 8s Elrigh Louw (Bulls) and Evan Roos (Stormers) have created their own hype, while we also get to see the current Springbok incumbent in that position - Duane Vermeulen - in action for Ulster in Cape Town on Saturday.
