Proteas fans understand the team is going through a transitional patch, but public faith is as fickle as form.

If Mark Boucher's team does not start building up series wins, public confidence that they can get out of the rut, which began at the 2019 Cricket World Cup, could wane way before fans are allowed back into the grandstand.

The Proteas lost their seventh home series in all formats, since Boucher took over, when they went down 2-1 to Pakistan by losing the 3rd ODI decider in Centurion on Wednesday.
