Aphelele Fassi joined a list of Springboks who might have rued their end-of-year tour minutes, or lack of, at the start of their international careers, but got their reward eventually through patience and diligence.

There is no reason to believe otherwise, but it's worth emphasising that young fullback Aphelele Fassi must remain patient and diligent for a chance to wrest the Springbok No 15 jersey after getting no action during the UK tour.

Many thought or hoped that the 23-year-old would get a look-in for any of the Tests against Wales, Scotland and England, but he was an unused reserve before flying home early, before the last tour clash last week.
