Some won't believe this coming from a writer who happens to be black and has been an advocate for transformation in sport for more than a decade, but we've all waited for the day a Springbok squad is announced and there's no ugly mud fight about its racial composition.

While there were many arguments about the merit omissions and inclusions in the 46-man Springbok squad for the British and Irish Lions series, sweet silence greeted the reveal last Saturday on how many black players are involved.

In many ways, these are the spoils of 2019, a Rugby World Cup victory that keeps giving South Africa much more than it would have done for England, whom they felled in the final.
