Ahmedabad - The rain which has washed out the first Champions League T20 match of the day on Monday in Ahmedabad has persisted and brought a premature end to proceedings before the toss had taken place.

The umpires wanted to inspect conditions at 16:00 (CAT), the time set for the toss in the Group A match between the Mumbai Indians and the Otago Volts, but that was not possible as the persistent rain ensured that ground staff would not be able to get the field playable in time for a match to take place.

Earlier, the match between that was scheduled between the Highveld Lions and Perth Scorchers was also abandoned without a ball being bowled after the Lions had won the toss and elected to field.
