As Cricket South Africa (CSA) thought they had turned a corner, the simmering feud between the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (Sascoc) and Sports Minister Nathi Mthethwa is threatening to plunge the sport into further peril.

After rejecting CSA’s amendments to its memorandum of incorporation (MOI) at a general council meeting last weekend, Sascoc says the powers of authority regarding awarding and withdrawing sports colours rest with them, not the minister.

As such, should CSA go ahead with their plan to enact the amendments, they could face suspension from SA’s sports governing body Sascoc, of which they are an affiliate.
